Scrumptious Living

I was honored to be featured this week as a “Scrumptious Mom.” One of the things I was asked to share for the feature was what my idea of scrumptious living is. As I thought about that, the first thing that came to mind was the following words of Jesus:
I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. [John 10:9; NASB]
You can read my thoughts about the key to achieving that abundant life and much more in the feature here on Scrumptious Moms. But before you do that, there is a “pre-requisite”, so to speak! If you see those first words of Jesus’ statement, he says:
He is the door!
Don’t miss that! Many people want to skip right over that part or do not want to believe that He is the only way to God, but if you want this abundant life he came to give you, you have to follow the path set forth by God to get there.
The Path
If you’ve never heard God’s plan for you, you can watch this quick video that explains it here:

If you follow our blog, you know we primarily write about food, recipes and other experiences our family has with food, such as our experiences parenting through our children’s picky eater phases and our first personal experience with malnourishment. Yet, as much as we love food, we love Jesus more and as big a part of our life as food is, our faith is a greater and more important part of our life.
The 1st Soul Food We Served
In 2011 at Easter, we did a recipe series titled Feast of the Ages. We wanted to incorporate our faith into our food blog somehow, and so we decided to tie in the reference of the Marriage Feast of the Lamb in the Bible to the presentation of 21-courses, the most formal of dinners. It was a lot of fun and resulted in a great resource of party type recipes!
You can find a list of all of the recipes in the post for the final course here. Or one of our readers created a Feast of the Ages Pinterest board where you can see the photos of all of the recipes she pinned there.
More Soul Food Served Soon
So today’s Soul Food post is the beginning of a series where we will share “food for the soul”, because “…man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” [Deuteronomy 8:3; NIV]
Leave us a comment!
Do you feed your soul regularly? What kinds of “soul food” do you like most? Do you have favorite authors or artists?
One of my favorite types of soul food is music! I will share more on that soon.
