There are a very small, like a handful or two, of celebrities I would ever be interested in meeting, given an opportunity. Kate Middleton and Kirk Cameron definitely make that super short list.

So any time Kirk Cameron does a movie, I pay attention. Have you heard about his newest project, Unstoppable?

It is going to be a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, make sure you don’t have to get up to get snacks or use the restroom kind of movie:

Not only that, I think this movie has a timeless and timely message.

Personal message and invitation from Kirk Cameron

If God is good and He is a god of love and he is powerful enough to stop evil and pain and suffering, why doesn’t He? That is the question that wrecks people’s faith.

What do you do when the expected tragedy hits nad your whole world comes crashing down? I went on a journey to examine my faith, to be honest and face my questions and my doubts.

This is the most personal project I have ever made regarding my faith. ~Kirk Cameron

Listen to the rest of his message in this video:

With every tragedy that strikes, people are asking these exact kinds of questions. There will be more tragedy… you will go through heartache and pain for as long as you draw breath. It’s kind of like that statement, “The only 2 certain things in life are death and taxes.”

Well, whoever made that statement missed a few. Another certainty for each of us is the universal experience of pain and suffering throughout our lives. For some, the intensity or frequency seems to be more than for others, but we all go through storms at some point during our lives.

What’s the greatest tragedy you’ve endured in your life? Do those types of circumstances arouse these questions for you?

I’m looking forward to this movie, but I have come to an answer in my own life for these questions. I will not share it here because I want to see what kind of answers the movie gives! I’m thankful to see a movie being produced that seems different from most and actually worth taking valuable time to watch.

Inspiration for the Movie

The movie was inspired by a true story. I think those make the best movies as we have opportunity to learn from what someone else has experienced if we ourselves have not had the same type of thing happen to us. And if we have not, most of the time the valuable life lessons are applicable to similar things we have or will experience.

How many times do we tell our children as they get older… “I want you to learn from my experiences”? We would do well to heed our own advice and set an example by learning from others.

Is there something you’ve learned from watching someone else go through a difficult time? Please leave a comment… who says we have to wait until the movie is out to begin that process?!
