Flank Steak Recipe with Grilled Mango and Watermelon Chutney

Flank Steak Recipe

Way Too Long Since Having This Flank Steak Recipe!

I have been wanting The Chef to make this flank steak recipe again for some time! We first had it a number of years ago when we were getting Cooking Light magazines. We discovered some delicious recipes in those magazines, and this was one of our favorites.

Experimenting with Flavor Combinations Can Make Some Foods More Appealing to Picky Eaters

Now, it’s important to note that The Chef is NOT a fan of watermelon. He won’t touch it by itself. But he likes it in this dish, which is the perfect example of the fact that picky eaters may not like a certain food by itself but when combined with the “right” other flavors, they sometimes will give it a chance… and may even enjoy eating it!

Family Ratings

The Well-Fed Son has never been a fan of steak. He seemed eager to try this because before he had his tonsils removed he had trouble swallowing meat with this type of texture. He took a bite and seemed nervous about trying to swallow it. We did not push it. Maybe next time… or maybe he will just never be a steak fan.

The Well-Fed Daughter tried it for the first time and liked it! She ate all of hers. We did cut it into very small pieces because it is not a very tender cut.

Speaking of which, we would like to try the chutney with a regular type of steak, like rib-eye, or The Chef said it could also be served with London Broil, which would also be more tender.

Either way, if you like fruity flavors paired with meat, give it a try one of these ways. We don’t think you will be disappointed!
